Hi, I'm Jillian! Thanks for visiting and browsing my shop.

Yam Collective is a Maine-based home scent studio specializing in handcrafted, eco-friendly candles and aromatic products.

Named after my daughter Yamilah, our brand offers clean-burning coconut wax candles with wooden wicks, along with room sprays, diffusers and parfum oils -- all made in small batches using vegan, phthalate- and paraben free fragrances. We are committed to sustainability, providing a refill service that allows customers to reuse their candle vessels, either by drop-off or mail-in, promoting a zero-waste approach.

With our minimalist aesthetic and focus on clean ingredients, we hope to bring warmth and intentionality to your home.

Let’s talk candle tunneling ✨

Not all tunneling is bad—and yes, it actually depends on the type of wax you’re burning.

Natural waxes (like soy, coconut, or beeswax blends) burn differently than paraffin. They’re softer, have lower melting points, and can sometimes tunnel early on. This doesn’t mean your candle is defective—it’s just the wax doing what it naturally does.

In many cases, tunneling will correct itself over time as the candle continues to burn and the wax warms evenly. What matters more is proper burn time and wick size—not chasing a perfectly flat melt pool every single burn.

Bottom line? Don’t panic. Know your wax, burn with intention, and enjoy the glow 🤍🕯️
